Kylie's tips for a successful hospitality career
- Do your homework. Think about what relates to you. If you don't feel comfortable and it's not who you are then it's not going to work out in the long run.
- Know your weakness. You have to understand where you need to improve on in order to strive to be better, especially in the hospitality industry where you are constantly challenged.
- Provide excellent service. You can't provide good service until you experience good service. Take stock of what matters to you at a given restaurant or venue and aim to create that for your guests.
- Listen. Listening is the biggest part of hospitality, whether it's listening to your guests, listening to feedback from your manager, or listening to the communication between your team members, it's such a massive piece of what the hospitality industry is all about. If you don't listen, you're likely going to miss the mark completely.
